Essex, UK. April 24th 2025 – Cleanwithbea is no stranger to dirt and grime, her transformational free cleans frequently take social media by storm, but she recently embarked on her most ambitious Biggest Ever Clean. This ‘extreme’ clean was made possible by HG, who sponsored Bea in transforming the apartment and giving the occupant a fresh start.
Bea and her partner took on the momentous task of cleaning the entire flat which took 11 days. Amongst the cleaning challenges was hiring a biohazard team to empty the bath that had been used as a toilet for four years. This plus hiring multiple skips to remove the piles of rubbish and gifting new furnishings, was thanks to HG’s financial support.
HG, the leading expert in effective cleaning products, funded the clean and donated 30 specialist cleaning products to enable Bea to transform a lady’s apartment from a massive health hazard, back to a welcoming sanctuary. From saving thousands of pounds in plumbing costs by unblocking drains, to cleaning carpets, restoring wood, eliminating limescale, restoring a bathroom suite and cleaning laminate floors, HG really has proven they have an effective product for every cleaning challenge.
Four years ago, the lady who lives in the apartment, experienced a number of traumatic events in quick succession and has been struggling with her mental health for which she is receiving ongoing support and therapy, but her living environment became unimportant to her. After years of feeling overwhelmed, she reached out to Bea to help and this is the beginning of the next chapter in her life.
The unbelievable footage has already gone viral with over 18million views and almost 1 million likes. See Bea’s Biggest Ever Clean reels to date here:

Also on Bea’s Instagram

The living room transformation will go live on TikTok today (Wednesday 23rd April) and the final part, the bedroom clean, will be live Sunday 27th April.
HG Commercial Director International, Ryan O’Sullivan said: “When we heard Bea was looking to take on this biggest ever cleaning challenge of course at HG we jumped at the opportunity to make it happen. We’ve worked together for over a year now and love how Bea puts our products thoroughly to the test to make a real positive impact for people. HG’s motto is “Does what it promises” and I am very proud to demonstrate and deliver on this with Bea. And as well as when our Brand Manager, Candice volunteered to get down there to help Bea out as this one was not for the faint hearted! It’s a great partnership as Bea shares HG’s ideals of making people’s homes their sanctuary, safe and healthy. Bea’s commitment to delivering life-changing cleans for those in need is a real inspiration and we’re delighted to be able to support Bea in this like no one else can.”
Cleanwithbea, added: “I’ve been a huge fan of HG products for years – their mould spray and foam limescale remover have always been staples in my kit. So having HG step forward to support one of my free cleans meant the world.
“This clean came with significant costs – from biohazard waste removal and PPE to new furniture and multiple skips – it was the biggest clean I’ve ever done, both financially and in scale. Having HG’s backing made a huge difference, and I can’t thank them enough.
“They didn’t just provide financial support – they physically got stuck into the clean too. Candice spent an entire day helping me load skips with rubbish. This was a huge team effort, and I’m beyond grateful to them all.”
For years a ‘best kept secret’ found in specialist DIY stores ‘in the know’, by HG consistently doing what it promises, word of mouth spread more and more and now HG is widely available in major retailers who want to provide the best for their shoppers, including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, B&Q, Wickes, Robert Dyas, Travis Perkins, Amazon, Home Bargains and a broad network of independent and specialist stores throughout the UK. As the global mattress industry races to cut costs, simplify sourcing, and scale up margins, one British manufacturer is taking a radically different approach.

Norfolk, UK. April 23rd 2025Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Company, a Royal Warrant-holding heritage brand based in Norfolk, has just launched its Traceable Wool Mattress Collection — and in doing so, it’s challenging long- standing industry norms around wool sourcing, transparency, and sustainability.

This new collection is crafted using hand-teased British wool but unlike other manufacturers that rely on a single large-scale wool supplier, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. has created a network of British farms supplying fleece of varying scale, location, and character.

From shepherds with just a few sheep to larger flocks of over 3,000, every farm is paid above market rate, with fast, fair compensation that allows even the smallest holdings to remain viable.

The Status Quo: Profitable for Retailers, Devastating for Farmers. The problem? It’s systemic.

Across the UK, sheep farmers face a harsh reality. The value of raw fleece has plummeted in recent years. For many, the price paid by British Wool doesn’t even cover the cost of shearing, and in some cases, farmers have opted to burn wool because selling it results in a net loss.

“We’ve seen the disconnect up close,” says Amanda Oldfield, Managing Director and founder of Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. “Farmers are being squeezed while the market keeps charging more. It’s a model that rewards volume and convenience — not fairness, sustainability, or true quality.”

By going against the grain, Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co. is demonstrating that it’s possible to build a product that is ethically sourced, beautifully made, and commercially viable — all while restoring value to the material itself.

A Cooperative-Led Sourcing Model

Rather than purchasing from a centralised depot or aggregator, the company has built a small cooperative of British farms. Some are multi-generational businesses on the moors. Others are new entrants with a few dozen animals. This diverse model reflects the real face of British sheep farming and directly supports those who are often left behind in mass-market economics.

“The reality is that larger farms can often survive on meat alone,” says Amanda. “But smaller farms rely heavily on wool. By paying more, and paying quickly, we’re helping rebalance an economy that’s been skewed for too long.”

The company hopes this model will inspire other manufacturers to reconsider their sourcing chains, not just from an ethical standpoint, but as a business opportunity. “Consumers are ready for products with meaning, provenance, and principle,” Amanda adds. “And we believe the future belongs to companies who are willing to lead, not follow.”

Handcrafted in Britain – Built to Last

Each mattress in the Traceable Wool Collection is handmade using traditional techniques, including hand-teasing of wool — a process that enhances comfort, airflow, and longevity.
There are no foams, no fillers, and no synthetic fire retardants — just layers of natural fibres like British wool, alpaca, cotton, horsetail, and cashmere (in the Signature Collection).
The company has designed three mattress ranges to cater to different needs:
  • Natural Comfort Collection – Combining adaptive pocket springs with hand-teased wool and cotton, this range offers restorative comfort, temperature control, and support. From £1,149 (King Size)
  • Bedstead Collection – A no-turn design made with practicality in mind, using breathable natural fibres and a balanced spring system. From £899 (King Size)
  • Signature Traceable Collection – The flagship range, featuring a chemical-free build with the most luxurious natural materials, 100% traceable to the farm. From £3,949 (King Size)
Why Traceability Matters Now More Than Ever

The growing consumer demand for traceability has put pressure on brands to show their working. But transparency without real-world impact is just marketing. This collection offers traceability with teeth — including named farm sourcing, direct engagement, and on-the-ground insight into how the wool was raised and handled.

It’s a genuine effort to realign customer values with production practices — not just because it sounds good, but because it’s what the industry should have been doing all along.

The Environmental Cost of the Current System

Beyond economic fairness, there’s a clear ecological argument for change. Unsold or underpaid wool is often treated as waste, even though it is biodegradable, renewable, and naturally fire-retardant. In contrast, the foams and petrochemical fillers used by mainstream manufacturers are resource-intensive and land-fill bound.

“Wool is one of the most sustainable materials on earth,” Amanda says. “It regulates temperature, repels dust mites, and doesn’t require flame-retardant chemicals. Ignoring its value is not just bad economics — it’s bad for the planet.”

Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co.’s direct-to-farm model also helps reduce carbon emissions, bypassing the delays and detours that fleece typically endures when processed through the centralised supply chain.

Rethinking the Supply Chain — from Soil to Sleep

As sustainability becomes a non-negotiable in modern manufacturing, the question is no longer “can we afford to do this?” — but rather, “can we afford not to?”

This collection is a blueprint for what mattress manufacturing can look like when principle drives practice. It’s slower. It’s more complex. But it’s undeniably better.

London, UK. April 17th 2025 – DIY Splashbacks, the leading UK innovator in custom glass solutions, has unveiled ground breaking manufacturing techniques that make toughened antique mirror glass splashbacks accessible and affordable for homeowners across the United Kingdom. This technological advancement directly contradicts the longstanding industry claim that mirror glass cannot be toughened for safety and durability.

Customer Success Story Highlights Significant Cost Savings
Kent resident Michael recently experienced the transformative benefits of DIY Splashbacks’ innovations first hand. After receiving quotes exceeding £3,000 for an antique mirror splashback and being told by multiple installers that toughened glass mirrors were impossible to produce, Michael discovered DIY Splashbacks’ unique offerings.

“What sets DIY Splashbacks apart is not just their pioneering manufacturing process that successfully toughens mirror glass, but their comprehensive support system for customers,” Michael explained. “Their detailed online tutorials guided me through measuring and installing a custom 2.4 meter by 0.75 metre T-shaped antique mirror glass splashback myself, reducing the total cost to just £815 and saving me over £2,000.”

Innovation Meets Accessibility
DIY Splashbacks has developed proprietary manufacturing techniques that overcome traditional limitations in glass processing. This innovation enables homeowners to access premium design features previously available only at prohibitive costs.

“We’re proud to challenge industry misconceptions while making luxury kitchen features accessible to more homeowners,” said a spokesperson for DIY Splashbacks. “Our toughened antique mirror glass meets all safety standards while providing the distinctive aesthetic quality our customers desire.”

Empowering DIY Enthusiasts
Beyond manufacturing innovation, DIY Splashbacks has invested significantly in comprehensive educational resources, including:
  • Step-by-step installation tutorials

As Brits gear up for holidays abroad, new data shows many still have their eyes on sorting out their homes before takeoff.

LONDON, UK. April 15th, 2025 – Brits are spending money on home improvements alongside holidays this year, according to new data from Statista.
A new infographic titled “Miles Before Meals” reveals that travel is topping the list of discretionary spending for 2025 across the globe. Brits, along with those in the US, Germany, China and India, are most excited about spending their cash on holidays. However, home improvements came in fourth ahead of fashion, jewellery and even wellness.
It’s a reminder that while the idea of jetting off somewhere sunny is tempting, many people still want their homes feeling right before they go. Whether it’s fixing up draughty windows, sorting out a creaky door, or just making the place a bit more comfortable, the appetite for improving where we live is clearly still there.
Colin Greenslade, who runs UK-wide business Colin’s Sash Windows, says it reflects a pretty common mindset. “People want to enjoy their time away, sure — but they also want to come home to somewhere that’s warm and not costing a fortune to heat,” he said.
“We’ve had customers telling us they’re upgrading before their holidays, just so they’re not dreading the energy bills when they get back.”
With energy prices still a hot topic, and homes responsible for a big chunk of heat loss through old windows and doors, homeowners are still thinking about ways to cut down on waste and make their spaces more efficient.
Colin added: “While the beach might be calling, many are making sure their own front doors are in good shape before they go because no one wants to come back from a relaxing break only to be hit with a cold house and a warm gas bill.”

SURREY, UK. 3rd April, 2025 – Easter is almost upon us, and perhaps as traditional as eating chocolate eggs and catching up with family and friends, it marks the start of the annual DIY season. This sees homeowners take on those tasks that have been bothering them all winter.

With the long Easter Bank Holiday weekend fast approaching, new research from Thompson’s suggests that 60 per cent (60.24%) of UK households will use the weekend to tackle DIY projects at home.[1]

When it comes to the task in hand, cleaning / power washing your patio or driveway comes out on top, with 34.69% of DIYers tackling it this Easter. Followed by interior painting – 20.41%, exterior painting – 18.37%, building flat pack furniture – 6.12%, and laying new patio or decking – 4.08%.

Power washing is at the top of to-do lists

‘It’s no surprise that cleaning or power washing a patio or drive comes out as the top DIY job planned for this Bank Holiday”, says Clara Dursent, Brand Manager at Thompson’s. “The UK’s wet and windy weather can take its toll on paving and tarmac. Dirt and fallen leaves can quickly pile up on surfaces, causing unsightly stains that may become hard to clean and can damage the surface over time. Regular cleaning can help preserve the life of your paving, saving hundreds, if not thousands, in the long run.”

Cleaning dirt-ingrained slabs and blasting away moss and weeds growing through the cracks will make a space look more inviting, but patio and driveway cleaning isn’t just about maintaining a good appearance. The UK’s damp weather encourages algae and moss, making patios and pathways dirty and slippery. If rainwater doesn’t drain well, it can also lead to mould and mildew.

Keep patios and driveways looking good for longer

If you’re planning to clean your patio or driveway this Easter, choosing the right equipment is vital. Two-thirds (75.51%) of those surveyed said they’d need to buy items to complete their DIY projects, with most (64.86%) spending between £10 and £50.

A pressure washer can quickly remove dirt, grime, and other debris from your driveway in just a few minutes. It can also help remove tough, stuck-on stains that would otherwise be hard to remove, allowing you to complete the job quickly.

“However, for a longer-term solution, a specialist cleaner such as Thompson’s Advanced Patio and Block Paving Cleaner will continue to protect the surface from algae growth for a further 6 months. By investing in quality cleaning products and proper maintenance, your patio will look its best all year round. This makes light work of DIY and hopefully leaves you some time to relax this Easter!” says Thompson’s DIY Expert.

For the ultimate re-fresh, finishing the job with a waterproofing sealant will help repel water going forward and protect against ground in dirt, stains, algae and moss. Thompson’s One Coat Patio and Block Paving Seal prevents water from soaking into the paving, which damages the surface over time.

Manchester, United Kingdom. 2 April 2025 – A new equipment sharing service has launched in Manchester, aiming to provide residents with access to professional-grade tools and equipment without the need for ownership.

Tooltap Manchester, a locally founded venture, has introduced an online rental platform offering cleaning equipment including carpet cleaner hire and pressure washer hire in Manchester, with additional items expected to be added in coming months.

“Our research showed that the average power tool is used for less than 13 hours throughout its lifetime, while items like carpet cleaners are typically used just twice yearly,” explains a company representative. “This presented an opportunity to create a more efficient solution for Manchester residents.”

The service arrives at a time when household budgets continue to face pressure from the cost of living challenges. By providing access rather than ownership, the platform offers Manchester residents a way to utilise high-quality equipment without the associated purchase costs.

Founded by Manchester entrepreneurs, Tooltap aims to follow successful sharing economy models already established in other UK cities, but with specific adaptations for the Manchester market. The company emphasises local connections and addressing the specific needs of Greater Manchester communities.

The platform utilises digital ID verification instead of traditional deposits, implements equipment sanitisation between rentals, and offers both delivery service within the Manchester area and a collection point in Salford. The company also provides flexible rental durations to accommodate different project needs.

From an environmental perspective, the sharing model aims to reduce resource consumption by maximizing the utilization of existing items. “Each tool shared means one less item manufactured and eventually discarded,” notes the company representative. “We’re building a more sustainable approach to accessing the equipment people need only when they need it.”

The company has outlined plans to expand its inventory significantly based on community feedback, potentially including kitchen appliances, DIY tools, and garden equipment. “We’re taking a data-driven approach to scaling, focusing on categories where sharing makes the most economic and practical sense for Manchester residents,” the representative added.

The service is currently available to Greater Manchester residents through the company’s website.

CORNWALL, UK. 7th January, 2025 – Kuishi, the sustainability-driven brand renowned for its eco-conscious products, has unveiled the UK’s first carbon-positive dispensing solutions for homes and businesses. Designed to reduce single-use plastic waste drastically, these refillable dispensers are a revolutionary step in making everyday products more sustainable.

In the past year alone, Kuishi has helped businesses and individuals avoid disposing of over 1 million plastic bottles by refilling their soap dispensers instead of purchasing individual plastic soap bottles, often disposed of after use. This significant milestone highlights Kuishi’s dedication to reducing plastic waste and promoting environmentally responsible practices.

Following a highly successful year, where Kuishi partnered with forward-thinking hotels such as The Pig and Jumeirah Port Soller, the company is now set to bring its products and services to the U.S. market in the second quarter of 2025.

What Makes Kuishi’s Solutions Carbon Positive?

Unlike carbon-neutral products that merely offset their environmental impact, Kuishi’s aim is to remove, prevent or offset 20% more carbon from the atmosphere than it takes to manufacture, deliver, use and eventually recycle their products, often called cradle-to-grave. This is achieved through:

Refillable Design: Each soap dispenser is specifically designed to be refilled, eliminating the need for single-use plastic bottles and dramatically reducing waste.
Sustainable Materials: Crafted from durable, reusable, and recyclable materials such as glass, these dispensers are built to last.
Ethical Manufacturing: Production processes emphasise low-carbon manufacturing and use renewable energy where possible.
Offset and Beyond: Kuishi partners with organisations like Carbon Sense, who not only accurately calculate their product’s carbon footprint but also arrange to ethically offset carbon by supporting carbon capture initiatives, reforestation projects, and renewable energy solutions, creating a net-positive environmental impact.

Reducing Plastic Waste: A Core Mission

The staggering number of plastic bottles discarded annually poses a significant challenge for the planet. Kuishi’s refillable dispensing solutions provide a practical alternative by replacing single-use plastics with elegant, reusable designs for homes and businesses.

In the past year, Kuishi’s customers—including households, hotels, and businesses have refilled dispensers over 1 million times, saving the equivalent of over 1 million plastic bottles from landfills and oceans. This achievement reflects the growing adoption of sustainable practices and Kuishi’s pivotal role in helping reduce environmental waste.

“Our mission is to empower people to make a difference in their daily lives,” said Stephanie Melarickas, Founder and Director at Kuishi. “Refilling dispensers instead of throwing away single-use bottles is a small change that makes a big impact, and we’re proud to support our customers in that effort.”

Kuishi is currently seeking to support projects to reduce waste and plastic waste as part of its commitment to supporting local communities.

B Corporation Certification and Commitment to Sustainability

Kuishi’s B Corporation certification, granted in 2024, underscores its dedication to balancing purpose and profit. B Corp certification is awarded to businesses that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

“Achieving B Corp status and launching the UK’s first carbon-positive dispensers are milestones that reflect our core mission,” said Mark Hopkins. “We’re not only rethinking how products are used but also tackling the larger issue of single-use plastic waste while positively impacting the planet.”

Transforming Sustainability for Everyday Use

Kuishi’s carbon-positive dispensing solutions do more than reduce waste—they redefine sustainability for the modern world. By offering elegant, refillable, and durable dispensers, Kuishi enables customers to adopt more responsible consumption habits without compromising quality or style.
